Hi Patience,
There are different FDCMs for Quadra Trac and Quadra Drive Systems. Also when my dealer and myself were thinking of putting in a new FDCM NOBODY here or in US could or would tell me if the new FDCM was pre N23 recall unit. The consensus of opinion was that all new FDCMs had the N23 updated software put in them for legal ,reasons.!! This may be your problem.

07 WH CRD Quadradrive No N23 update.

Just back from a week or so 4wd in the Vic Alps. The car has not had much 4Lo work in the last year or so, for various reasons.

The first few time of putting it into 4Lo it would occasionaly throw a 'Service 4WD System' but went into 4Lo ok. Message cleared on next engine start.

After the first 2 or 3 days I got no more messages. I guess the actuator or the sensor switch may have been a bit sticky and a few cycles loosed it up.

Still not sure whether to get the n23 update or not. Opinions?

Definitely not!
It's clear that there's still confusion amongst the dealers, so you wont know whether you'll end-up with the "original" broken N23, or the very-latest update (which doesn't exist according to some Aus. dealers.).

If you can get to Ozjeepster you might-as-well do it (just so you don't need to worry about another dealer doing it without your knowledge.).

Otherwise leave it as-is. IMO enough of us have been running without it for long enough to consider it safe. As-in, the "risks" stated as the reason for the N23 recall appear to not apply to our vehicles (maybe they only apply when remote start is used, as suggested in the N23 doc.), or maybe just because most of us use the handbrake when we park. Which apparently not everyone in the US does(?) (the fact that they call it an "emergency brake" is probably an indication.).

@Clarky; it might be good to have a sticky listing dealers who successfully flashed N23 or have been responsive to complaints, something along those lines.

True. I'm still following this thread but no way I'm going to waste my time breaking something that's working good

I'm not sure it calls for a sticky but there is merit in the idea.

How about

"Successful N23 update"

*Dealership name-
*Address including state-
*Who you dealt with (if known)-
*Phone number-
*Date update was done-
*Version of update (if known)-

No other information to be included, chit chat & questions to be kept to existing threads.

???

It has been created
