I have a KJ not a WJ however when i got a new radiator and enquired about internal oil cooler no said to do it purchase an external cooler which has been done and have never had an issue since. PS my oil cooler has a fan on it also

+1 bugger it. had the thing 2 mnths. just did high pressure fuel pump.back on road a week and this happens. but i still have faith in it, dont know why but i do.
best info and support forum around for sure. you guys are great.

Some people have had several coolers fail over several years and others haven't had a single one fail, I'm in the latter group.

It is wierd, this is the original.
Have a cooler, seal, water pipe and pressure relief valve on the way from the US.

all done, biatch of a job. flushed with degreaser 4 times then straight water. now filled with 50% coolant mix as per workshop manual. hopefully good for another 200 odd thousand kilometers. thanks for this post fester, has helped immensely.

will be buying a turkey baster asap to suck out the residual oil that may collect in the expansion tank.

Decided to go for a drive today,Ringwood to Rye to Hastings to Belgrave then home .
200klm and the car didn't miss a beat [emoji106]
