Surey they can reuse several parts from the old motor and the engine bay. Your intercooler should be ok as well as your powertrain module and sensors - unless they failed and casued the issue??

I was told verbally that the module failed, but they wont commit that in writing.

So it looks like they expect the US government and yourself to keep them afloat a bit longer

Cheers

I've ben following this thread in absolute stunned awe at the huge dollar numbers being thrown around. $77G and $22G - Wow!!!!

Just out of curiosity and for a comparison without hijacking this thread with the terrible experience as described.

Just what would it cost to have the GC petrol 4.7 V8 remanufactured versus the cost of buying a brand new one? R & R by a workshop too.

Geez thats a ridiculous figure.Even if they covered half its still totally over the top.I reckon any decent wk. shop could rebuild it for under 10g including remove & replace.New valves on 2 cylinders, set of pistons, rings & liners.New gaskets ,heads surfaced & tested ,new big end bearings.
No need to replace intercooler, turbo ,etc unless they are actually stuffed too.
