There's no getting away from the fact Victoria has more 4 wheel drive tracks open particually in National Parks in such a small area than any other state & North of the divide the weather is 5 degrees warmer than Melbourne with more sunny days than Queensland.

70 minutes & I'm here, got to love it
Sounds awesome....are their banjos in there them hills?

You bunch of southerner's need some sunshine . QLD's where it's at, don't need to go wheeling anywhere but your own place. Here's my backyard, a carton of grog to the first one who makes it down to the creek and back without a winch

Anywhere that doesn't have snakes..... After finding 3 in my bathroom this week, Tropical Nth Qld isn't really doing it for me at the moment. Never saw one snake in the 3 years I was in Victoria.
I'm still tossing up whether small towns are better then cities. I'm out numbered up here by sugar cane and banana's (and snakes).
Woolies just went up down the road. I must be the only one that was happy about that. I'm a regular customer
I guess we have all the usual things. Doctors (tho only a few), dentists (if u dare), post office (how long can u wait), Banks (hmm banks) and several shops that make life easier - like the PUB if you can find a spot because every local finds their way there.

Apart from that, it's a 2+ hour drive for me to see anything else that I now see I took for granted, like the CINEMA! No bunnings here either.
Then you have a small community where everyone knows everyone elses business and I'm not quite into that yet.

But I live on acerage (hence the snakes), less then 50 mtrs from the Beach and we can fish, ski, swim basically a stones throw from our house.

I HATE the heat. I can see summer being spent inside the refridgerator if I manage to lose a few more kilos . The heat is the downfall for up here. I like both - cities & small towns. I know I wouldnt be able to get on the motorbike or 4 wheeler and run a muck down in Melb like up here.
Picking up a rifle would get more attention back in melb then here. I now sleep with a machete under my bed because of the snakes. My partner is a little worried about that part. LOL. For the greenies out there among us.... A good snake is a dead snake, but I'm quick. There is no pain.

My 2 cents worth.

Hey Jeeps, ever had a bush fire race up that hill. Might want to think about cutting those trees back away from the house.
