Update..........
Week before last, caught 3 different cats on 3 consecutive days in the council supplied cat trap. The ranger came and took the pussies away to the pound.
Last Monday, i had a delegation of neighbours on my front door. Generally, not happy that their puss had been caught ON MY PROPERTY and they had to pay pound fees to get their cats back. I explained about (1) dead possums/birds, (2) cats spraying on our plants, outdoor furniture, pet enclosure etc (3) cat turds, diggings (4) fighting etc etc. Met with blank looks and denial. Apparently its none of their cats (of course). They said I should get a dog, pay for wire to be put up on top of our fences, or i can buy cat deterrent sprays etc. Really? Why should I have to fork out?
This week, we received copies of correspondence that has now been mailed to them from the council, outlining further fines and penalties and possible court cases if their cats are caught on our property again.
Today, wifey phones to say (1) dead possum in our back yard in bits, and (2) cat piss/spray everywhere again.
So traps are being set again. Maybe bigger/second round of fines will get their attention. What is it with cat owners?
Note, I'm doing this legally, with the full support of our local council. I wont condone illegal actions (ie burying them up to their neck and running them over with the mower) YET.
