Thumbs up

This is a pick from KiwiJeeper the solder point is at the top right next to one of the black plastic rivets - you can see the long circuit leading up to it from the left.

Thanks to all that have contributed to this thread I think we have nailed it - just went and rechecked and it is working from 5x the distance it was before.

My Grand Cherokee Laredo is the same and yes batteries replaced, contacts cleaned Etc: I do believe from information that the sensor or antenna is in the middle of the dash when I find the time I want to try to extend it if possible, that is if I can find it.

Nallyrt - If you have a WJ the antenna is in the passenger door window/lock switch, if you read through the entire thread you will have all the info to improve it (or if you want to wait a few days I am sure a couple more of us will do the mod and confirm it does work).

Well I did it, mine now works from inside my house, the Cherokee has tinted windows as well, and it works from at least 5 plus metres away. As for the plastic rivets I just used my dermal type tool to grind them low enough to lift the board out and when re assembling the unit I used some foam to keep the board in place. A small hole was placed into the casing allowing my antenna wire to come out, when replacing the unit back in, I placed the antenna wire behind some plastic brackets so it is safely tucked away.
Thanks guys the mod was a brilliant one and simple to-boot.

Huh, I was about to publish my findings (actually from a mate in our bulgarian forum, who removed the plastic pins), but I see someone already did it.
Anyway, here is the pin (see attached images), where the antenna should be soldered. For 433MHz use 52cm. long wire. (It's EU RKE freq)

Detailed information here (use google translator)

Thanks Peerless, mine is still working beautifully which has saved me no end of bitching from the Mrs, if I can be bothered I might extend my antennna wire to the 52cm but at 27cm it is working well enough at the moment.

Ps Jeez I love the internet and the knowledge it brings - with out it I might have just stumped up with the multiple hundred of $$$ for a new control module.
