Well, after sitting on my driveway for about 3 weeks, the XJ started and ran for a few seconds and then died and would not fire. I thought it might have been out of fuel, so topped that up, and it fired again, but then died for good this time. I ran the OBD check and got 12 and 11 then 55 so narrowed it down to the CPS. I checked the connection and cleaned up the plug with some CRC spray, and voila, she runs perfectly. Ran great all week and on the journey out past Canungra to the Cable Camp Park track near Logan Village, and then started cutting out on the entrance track.
I decided I'd save myself some drama when we got further up into the hills, and turned around to head home, but only made it about 500m back down the track before the CPS died again. I figured it was a heat and vibration/bumps issue so I locked it up and waited for a friend in a pajero arriving late to pick me up and on we went to catch up to the rest of our group.
We got back to the Jeep later in the day to have a go at starting it and she ran, and got me to within about a km of the main sealed road, and started playing up again. So RACQ was called, and the Jeep now sits at the top of Mt Tamborine at the towie's workshop waiting on the friendly towie to pull out the sensor for me to check the part number.
Should've just swapped out the sensor when I had it at home..........
