Cleaned out the air cleaner. Hasnt been done for about 15,000 km.
There was about 1/2 a cup of dead mozzies in the air box below the filter element.

Castor wedges adjust caster. How they could fit on the front though I think would take some work. I have them on mine but they are on the rear axle.

I am surprised that an XJ could have a lot of camber problems as the front end seems fairly solid, unless the diff is bent, like someone else said. My camber has always been well within tolerances. I personally think I would be looking at what is causing the camber to be out of spec rather than installing offest ball joints.

On another note I installed a new rocker cover gasket today thanks to another Ausjeeper. Mon evening I fitted the other front leaf bush. PITA getting those front bolts in, hopefully this time they will last. Just now bought an Ebay winch Tmax 12T. Hopefully the feedback accurately reflects the quality of his winches.

regards A

If you look at the front of my XJ on level ground you can see the negitive camber clear as day rh side is -1 degree lh is -1.6 It looks worse than it is. I work with an old bloke that specialised in wheel alignments when he was on the tools, he saw my jeep in the carpark and said " i bet that thing is hard to drive in a straight line with all that negative camber"
it could be bent because i dont treat it very nice. I live near mudgee and there isnt anyone that can check it and I guess if they make adjustable ball joints it must be a fairly common thing.

somehow i dont think the wheel alignment dude knew what he was talking about. He may not have even been the guy that did the wheel alignment but i do know there is no way and no place for wedges to go in the front of an XJ.
I'm a mechanic by trade, not a very good one and definately no wheel aligner but i do have some idea
i just want to be able to drive it in a straight line without getting arm pump and a headache from concentrating on where i think it might go next. LOL

Trust it went well Anthony

I definitely have a fair amount of camber on the left - my tread wear tells me that! Definitely time for a rotate...

In other news it's been stalling more frequently with this check engine light, even with a 5 min drive. Head swap, gaskets and sensors hopefully this weekend - cant come soon enough!
