The panel looks better without the seam, although I do have to say I'm not convinced about the louvers yet, something doesn't look quite right to me.

Perhaps it is the Toyota origin

Hopefully the louvers will look better once installed and in the vertical position. It is just a necessity to have some where to draw in fresh air for me, function over form. Otherwise I end up like all the hotrodders and permanently on recirculate because looking good was more important. I try my best to achieve both at the same time but have to compromise some times. I'll put up some photos soon with the cowl attached to the guard and sitting upright.

Melted the lead out of the sill join and was not pretty. Will cut it all away and remake the whole bottom section.

Tacked in the Willys pressing ready for tig welding once I get one.

Folded up a replacement for the bottom of the cowl with the extended sill all the way to the end this time.

Used the rounded flipper to create the curve by hamming down on it with the mallet. Was easier than trying to hammer down under the lip with the flipper alone.

Ready for welding.

Dressed and ready to fit.

The inner panel needed repairs as well.

Replaced the bottom section and thought the pitted area above it looked bad by comparison now so cut it out.

So that has been fixed now ready for service once again.

To make sure I got the holes for the running board in the right place in the new piece of the bottom of the cowl, I clamped it together with the guard. Gave me an idea of how it will look together now too. Can see how I lined up the bottom of the louvers with the top of the guard as well.

Looking good Gojeep, that tight curve on the bottom of the inner panel would have taken some work!
How's the Tig going?

They still have not released the tig I am after yet. Just finished prototype testing and given the ok for production, so hope not long now.

In context with the front guard the louvers almost look like they have always been there as does the Willys pressing.

I should have never doubted your vision Marcus.

Thanks mate. One thing I don't like after looking at the last photo is the bead along the edge finishing before it gets all the way to the bottom where the sill is. Going to try extending that to make it look more finished
