HS, the prices quoted for some of those parts is beyond belief. The cost for the hoses and the injectors is just plain robbery. That price quoted is to scare you off for sure, you could buy a 2nd hand WH and cannabalise it and sell off the parts you don't need and come out way ahead.
A new intercooler and stuff, really......beyong belief.

At the end of the day legally you are out of warranty, whether by a few k or a few thousand. It's quite clear that Jeep Australia aren't going to come to the party, similar to those Jeeps that have burnt.

77k to fix the engine is a joke and Jeep Australia should be embarrassed with the person who had the hide to even send it to you. Wonder if the CEO of Jeep Australia knows about this fiasco.

Maybe you need to bring this crap to the attention of the CEO of Jeep in America, A Current Affair, the ACCC, maybe even Mercedes Benz the supplier of the engine to Jeep.

Have you thought about contacting a Merc dealer to see what they want for one of these engines and/or, what they would quote for repair.

I'm sorry to hear about your Jeep I wish I could say I was suprised at your quote but Im not the jokable part is the rest of the world get Jeep parts for about a 3rd of the price I bought new injectors for $420ea from England including postage and taxes and Jeep Australia quoted $1020ea plus tax thats just one item I have bought alot more with the same kind of differences.
It makes you wonder are they trying to break into the Australiam market seriously or just make some quick money?

Im no Engineer but I would have thought for that kind of damage to happen in 2 different cylinders at the same time both the injectors would have had to be stuck open causing them to hydralic lock thats what the photos look like to me If it was excess heat that burnt the valves and piston it usually is a slow process and 1 cylinder would have gone before the other and you would have noticed a miss fire?

Keep us posted and I hope you have some good luck

I received the following email from Chrysler this morning.

Paul,

I tried to speak with you yesterday, Thursday 08/01/09, but due to your commitments was not able too.

Paul, in the interest of both parties I respectfully request that on your return from overseas you come into us and pay the outstanding monies ($1400.00) and tow your vehicle from our premises.

This is what I was wanting to discuss with you by telephone but I have no option but to email you as per your request.
