yeah mate. had to go genuine though, another 4000 bucks for a kit. but i think the aftermarket one, (which is the same kit from an aftermarket supplier) is about 2000 bucks. the rest is just chrysler mark-up.

Davidd - ceramic clutches have very little slip, the main issue is driveablity. They tend to either be disengaged or engaged, which makes them painful on road (but great for comp work as they can withstand copious amounts of abuse and heat) plus the jolting with increase wear on other drive line parts line drive shaft yokes and diffs.

I didn't ask for pricing on the unit, but I will let everyone know what the organic clutch + solid fly combo costs in a few weeks (hopefully!!)

fellas, if you need a diesel clutch, ring jeep engines australia. i just contacted them after i saw a post on ajor and had a natter to them. they are the official vm motori agent here in australia and supply a full range of diesel parts, including timing belt change kits and get this.......They have a full jk diesel flywheel/clutch kit in stock now, at the reduced no dealer price, i think it was around $2500. so it is available here in australia NOW! if any of you have followed ryang and his problem locating a pcm through chrysler, when he finally got one, it was jeep engines autralia who located it and forwarded it to get him one. it seems these guys are good. give them a try .

Default JK Clutch

Gents I have been following these threads about the Dual Mass Flywheel and the cost of replacement.
I first became interested in this as I am about to pull out my transmission to fix first gear and wanted to change the clutch. At these sorts of costs I will wait. Mind you mine has 186000km on it and is still fine.
However in all my digging I found these guys: info@npcperformanceclutches.com.au who specialise in DMF and also conversions to SMF. Specifically they advised that they can provide a DMF for the CRD 08 Jeep for just over $2K. However, after further research I was also interested in the conversions they do to SMF. I received an email from Doug (who is happy to be the contact) who said that if we provided one it would take approx 1 month for him to put one together. If any of you guys have replaced one perhaps you could send him your old one. In an ideal world he would make a SMF that would take the (1-5 stage) extreme clutch options.
An all Australian solution.
My 2c.

Your Jeep has done a hell of a lot of KLM's (mines an 07 with only 30,000klm) and the DMF, Throw Out Bearing & Clutch are still ok! so why would you even consider changing to SMF and an Extreme Clutch? the phrase If it aint broke don't fix it rings true. My Standard Clutch has never slipped and my CRD Engine now puts out an extra 110NM at the wheels after a ECU Re-flash earlier this year. After some recent 'A' Grade Tracks the New Std Clutch went fine, I've never experienced clutch slip and i give the Jeep Shit. My G/Box survived with the extra 110NM and i put that down to having a DMF to protect it from Hi Loads (slip feature) and Shock Loads (dampening springs) . [pic of me popping a mono going hard climbing a steep hill]

I have heard the H/Duty Clutches (only available for V6 not CRD at this time) are harder to depress and more effort required from your foot, by the amount of klm's you do i'd say you'll end up hating it.

I would advised that changing the JK G/Box which is already close to its Max input limit to SMF will take out a very important week link in the drive train, i.e. if the DMF is not there to slip under extreme load the next thing to go is the G/Box! It will also change the way it drives, you'll feel engine pulses as you take off.

Up to you but I'm sticking with DMF's and Stock Clutches. After fitting a new DMF, Bearing & Clutch i have a lot of hopefully trouble free miles ahead and hope i don't have to pull that G/Box out again! (BTW the Clutch and DMF were absolutly fine, it was the Cheap Throw Out Bearing that Failed! i just changed it all while the G/Box was out)
If my G/Box or Clutch does fail i have a simple solution. I'll be buying a new JK Rubicon in AUTO!

Hi Mal, was that the Green Diesel reflash from Murchison?

Hi guys,

Has anyone bought and fitted the extreme clutches unit yet? I have spoken to them a number of times, and now have been given different part numbers for a dual mass clutch kit, and pricing from 1400 to 3800!!

I'm trying to confirm the part number before going ahead, or going to OEM!
