This is the area of the A frame under the most load and welding across the top here introduces a weakness that outways the advantage of having it welded. And to answers Gojeeps question, the tyres in the pics are tucked in further than they will be eventually, I pulled them in tight so they'd stay on.

I welded up the A frame today, well some of it anyway

At least at the moment it is easily stored. This is the underside.

Just got back from getting the springs, I was going to run XJ ones but decided to go with offroad rated trailer springs instead. No as long but a little less weight and plenty strong enough. They also have greasable shackle bolts, the 2nd leaf wraps around the eye and they have a rebound spring on them. More expensive than a standard eye to eye trailer spring but more suited to the job.

Should get some more done next weekend

Cheers
Steve

steve what weight are these springs weighted for, they seem with seven leaf's and with overload leafs as well to be to heavy for a 900/1000kg camper , only reason i say this is because if they are rated to high for the weight of camper and you get on corrugated roads they will be to stiff and will wreck your camper, you may already know this but with offroad camper/ trailers longer springs with shocks are much better than short stiff springs.

They are rated to 1000kg for the 7 leaf pack, with the longer leaf you need more springs than the shorter ones to get the same rating. These are the lowest rated ones.

They weld on.

Cheers
