haha, yeouch.
yes, a gasket, its a soft rubbery kinda one (low density polyethylene at a guess) its worth about 80-90 bucks, if you were super duper clever with your silicone you might get away with it, but a sump isn't a job you want to dodgy up =p
and getting it to seal, even with a gasket, marine sealant and sikaflex was an art itself.

the sikaflex was slightly more adhisive than a glass of water, only slightly

sticks your fingers like its the next big thing though

i had to stick the gasket to the block, then bolt the sump up, difficult but the only way

I'd try and pry it out with a screwdriver throught the plug hole next oil change if you really need it gone... taking it off was a prick of a job, just my thoughts

And it will be a prick next time for sure now you used sikaflex. I hoped you did the RM at the same time because they too eventually leak . I did my sump gasket and wouldn't say it was that hard; well after I dropped the lower CA's. I damaged the lip on mine near the drivers CA because I tried to leave the CA's in place. I then had to carefully tap it out and used a bit of RV over the the spot to ensure it was all good. I only used a little RTV in three or four spots to get the gasket to stick to the sump and then fitted it back up. Last thing I want is to try and scrape anything off the block when I eventually do the RM; too much risk of shit entering the crank area.

Regards AG

Fitted up the 3" rough country kit. sway bar drop brackets don't fit with bash plate in place, can hook up the sway bar but the end links are too short and it's rubbing on passengers side coil. Going to LCMP next Monday, wooders has no stock on extended links...what to do!

Angry

Now, playing around the quarry I had a good flex, and succeeded in busting a tranny cooler line.... Again
Some quick marine sealant solved this, but it seems the bolt in the upper trailing/radial/control arm comes up and punches the lines and the sump, I think I'll get out the grinder tomorrow and cut the protruding bolt, anyone else with this issue?
