Not my first set of Ironman gear either and probably not the last.......... my other go to is usually OME but they didn't want to play with the WK2 and the cost has got scary anyway. Mine has about 40mm lift now that everything has settled....

I'm a firm believer in you should change springs and shocks all round so you have a whole set, just shocks or just springs is not good.
This was my opinion as well but seemed alot of people where happy with the murchison setup.
And they said it wasn't necessary.
Bought the car new and had the suspension built into the lease price. 1100 to fit just the front struts now. So Im trying to find as much information before i buy something that doesnt really solve my problem.

If you could. Think you can take a down travel measurement for me? With front wheel off the ground I just need a measurement from the wheel arch to centre of rim.
Cheers

So I'm wanting to know how much "long travel" increases the stroke. Because presently if i go over a sharp speedbump the strut tops out with enuff noise to sound like its going to explode.
Interesting, first I've heard of that. I have a feeling Bilstein do a set for the WK2, so may be worth having a dig around online for their specs. Good luck!

When I changed mine I didn't notice any real change in extension from original, other things hanging off restrict the travel, too much and the CV would chop out quick, I DiY so did look at it, with all suspension lifts while you gain body lift, you don't gain in extension really, thats why when you replace struts you have to drop stuff so you can force the wish bone lower......

Anyway your in luck, good chance the Jeep will be in the shed over the weekend so if my measurements are still on the shed wall I will have your answers otherwise it won't take much to sling the trolley jack under and lift it up.... from memory standard front height is 485mm and my lift pushed it to 520mm, I don't think the travel has increased really..... I have 65 extra Kg on the front of mine... If I get inspired I could dismantle the old struts and run a tape over them, we'll see.

I suppose we should move to a dedicated thread instead of on this thread...

I'm only using BP or Caltex premium diesel in the hope that it's cleaner and better for the engine in general, including filters. Maybe its only a placebo, who knows! Can't always get it in the sticks though.

I wouldn't gauge the 5w30 by feel to much, 5w40 is also very runny as soon as it's been through the engine. At my last oil change I felt I might have overfilled slightly and a couple of days later let a bit out at the plug. Felt very thin, and as always it quickly discolours.

Fuel is what I can get our local is Liberty and the nearest Caltex is 50km away and when travelling I just pick the least ratty place, most places there's no choice ...... Oil is 5W-40, mine takes 7.5lts and about exact, I tip in 7 give it a run, sit for 20 then top up.... I am sure I was burning some Turco once from a joint in NSW I got fuel, smelt like a paint shop at the back.

That was a quicky run for sure...........

Only mentioned discolouring as some folks get concerned about it. Problem is with the dipstick, if you can get an accurate reading on it then you're doing well, the GC is notorious for showing oil right up the gauge past the full mark almost regardless of sump quantity or temp. I usually put in the exact same quantity that comes out, last time I disposed of the old oil before measuring it

Its Bloody useless, I put in the 8.5ltrs as per owners manual and drove, I figure the oil light will come on if needs to be topped up.
