I sympathise with you signwilson, DC should at the very least paid the $800 you had to pay to get the Grand fixed - in the interest of customer relations. Paying half admits liability, so while not pay the whole lot? Seems awfully suspicious that this problem has reared its ugly head on more than one vehicle.

If it was a problem with the install of the bar, then why don't DC make sure their dealers are educated properly to fit accessories and service the cars (including checking the toy bar bolts) properly.

There's plenty of Jeep dealers around that don't know how to service Jeeps properly. The last two times mine's been in for a service its come back with the absolute minium oil level in the engine, and absolute minimum oil level in the tranny for f..cks sake! When I get the call from the dealer 'are you happy with your last service sir?' guess what I say. Nothing ever happens.

Still, I like the Jeep, just hate the dealership.

Not suprised you got some backlash from other forum users though...after all it is a forum for Jeep enthusiasts! :-0

Good luck with the Grand in future if you decide to keep it.

Yea you know why the Tow bar may not of been fitted properly, Cause most Franchise Stealerships have 60% of there workers are Apprentices and 1 Forman to over see 60 Cars go in and out and maybe 3 fully qualified mechanics, and they are working there asses off to get there bonus target!!!!!

It may well of been fitted correctly and yea bad luck to Mr wilson, i would be pissed to, Just realise though, Its a Car these things happen and if you can't get over it catch a bus........

have trouble getting over something that should be fixed under warranty as I HAVE said on numerous occassions I like the Jeep and yes I am going to sell it because it won't do what was claimed for it. The dealership here only has one mechanic that knows anything about Jeeps if he is sick tough you just have to wait. Also as I have said on numerous occassions this is not a one off case we know of six others personally.

While this all sounds very bad, shocking even, I'm interested to know if there was any noise, rattling etc coming from the rear, I may have sensitive hearing but my reciever hitch rattled from brand new, I don't really see the point in those hitches all they do is rattle and easy to get stolen, anyway the noise inside the car drove me so mad I welded it solid to the tow bar, all I can think is that back end of your car must have been making a hell of a racket way before it got as bad as it did, why do people ignore obvious problems with thier cars and then winge when it lets em down?

The only time the hitch rattles is while it is not connected to the trailer, then I take it of and I use a key lock pin to keep it from being stolen. The sound that started sounded just like a coke can being broken in half, and only occured when the van was on. This started on the way home from holidays with my granddaughters at 1770, and it went straight to the dealer to be checked. Very hard to stop in the middle of the highway with two little ones if you don't have to.
