the above advice by jony jeep is very well written imo
I agree with it, and would proceed as by snipping both earth wires,
and try splice both relay earths into each ECu ground wire alternately, and see if that works
If it doesnt, solder & heatshrink them back together, no harm done
I also think it is safer to check for earths on PC using a multimeter, not a test light probe
