I find everyone has their "secret voodoo" receipt for fixing over heating issues. Truth is like every system there is no magic, just simple inputs and outputs. When in doubt follow these simple steps* :

Perform manual conversion, remove transmission cooler in front of radiator.
Move radiator and AC cooler forward 25mm, redrill lower holes and modify top crossmember as required.
Install oversize aluminium radiator.
Install falcon twin thermo fans each wired on their own relay + fuse. We're talking redundancy here.
Hesco high flow pump and thermo stat housing
Mopar thermostat

Now that my engine is properly run in (400,000) she hauls around without a worry about the heat.

*I do not recommend you follow these steps...

What makes me wonder about this thread is why the OP didnt go & have a good look through the sticky about XJ cooling ~ 4.0l XJ overheating? Start here - the basics! before starting this thread. We appear to be up to the stage where we have decided that square wheels are better than triangular ones. Next step ...............

Well actually I did! I did a lot of reading as I had to fix a few things I didn't understand ......I only started this thread to share my overheating experience after replacing everything with everyone for comments and ideas
Anyway haven't been around for a while things came up I didn't get around to testing on Nov 13 but been driving around and all is OK but I am thinking about swapping over to a waterless coolant
anyone using waterless coolants?
