Limited - try the 52cm length wire and make sure you pick the correct connection to solder it to. If it stilll doesn't work, try new bateries nad cleaning the battery contacts in the remote.

Also make sure you test your soldering with a multimeter. Do this by testing continuity from the end of your new cable to the furthest solder point on the antenna track on the PCB. You may have a dry solder joint or similar.

Also the length of cable is very important as it relates to signal wavelength. just putting any old length of cable in will not achieve ideal results.

Things that may be the problem are that your module may be on its way out. (Unlikely but possible) Or there may be a bad connection or earth which could also be the cause.
However ensure you have the right point on your circuit board and use the correct length of cable, RF (Radio Frequency) can be fickle especially when it comes to interference, Telco Towers, Wireless com’s and other forms of RF can cause problems with your keyless entry. With mine it works great one day and not so good the next, the best I can put it down to is potential interferance related isues. I have the same problems with my gurage remote control entry.

Last week still having problems with the remote and after already doing the antenna extending thing, pulled apart my remote cleaned the small dot contacts, the hey presto remote works briliantly. so it seems every 3 months or so these contacts need cleaning, have done it several times already.
