It's easy just tap into the wiring next to the plug on the fermo and 2 wires to a switch with full power and then you flick the switch when needed and still works when air cons turns on that's how mine is plus just ad a fuse to one wire no relays
what an eventful day. didnt start after visiting clarke rubber. overhauled my starter in the car park. had a gu ute driver give me crap about jeeps after he saw me rebuilding and cleaning the starter. watch him get hit by a rodeo as he was backing out giving me crap. WAS AWESOME. oh yeah starts fine now.
how did you overhaul the starter motor ?? i thought it was a bit of a job
bought x7 simex centipedes off tuffeb. x3 are primo, debating what to do with the other 4...will be interesting to see how they fit with a 2" IRO lift..may have to look at some coil spacers and adjustable shackles
its quite easy actually. the starter comes apart in 3 pieces. end cap where the brushes sit, middle where the armature is and the front portion is where the assembly that connects to the fly wheel to start your car. also holds 3 gears and a small ball bearing (dont lose the ball bearing). all gets held by 2 long bolts which once you undo you can separate the 3 parts. its just a matter of disassemble clean re grease and reassemble. go jeep has a good write up on stripping and cleaning one.
i will keep this one in mind i always thought the brushes wore down it was game over
Just remember not to overtighten the bolt that screws into the starter (at the bell housing ) ,the thread is alloy and can be easily stripped, I have 3 in my shed with stripped threads ,
A helicoil will probably fix them !!
