That looks like at some time in the past the tire has suffered a bad impact that has damaged the steel cord. Then its just a matter of time before it fails. If some one had broken the bead by driving over the tire, this would happen some time down the track. Normally they bulge up a bit for a few KM before they fly to pieces. It can also happen if the tire was run nearly flat at speed at some time in the past.
Would not be surprised at all. They were free when I got them So who knows their true history.
It had developed a good egg before going but as I didn't have a spare on board, I was about 12 kms from home and in the middle of the night, it was worth seeing how close I could get there. About 1.5kms more after the egg developed.
Started to fix my fuel pump but recoiled in horror at all the bits that had to come off to get to the plastic tank,.... so I cut a hole in the floor didn't I!
Haven't figured out how to make a 6856 removal tool yet.
Not done yet but my new shocks and clutch fan arrive this afternoon and I picked up my none old 31s which I'll get fitted next week.
Then there will only be the leaking power steering, nearly every bush in the suspension, the air, tie rod ends, power windows and stereo to fix.
What do you expect for 400 bucks and 376,000kms on the clock.
