1200W Inverter Install
Installed a inverter today. It is one of the easier installs I have done.
The inverter (pictured) I bought off ebay and seams quite good. It has two power outlets and alarms on flat battery (below 10V), I did try this running it on a spare battery and it turned itself off and alarmed annoyingly when the battery got to 9.5V. It also has a automatic overload cut off. This is when I discovered I may be disapointed. I don't think that 1200W is enough to run my power drill or grinder! Need the 3000W I suppose, maybe I will have to have two inverters on board!
I am slowly constructing my rear storage system. I have used 19x19x200mm timber with 30x15x15 on top to bolt the platform to. The platform will be 12mm Marine ply measuring 1350x800. Underneath on the passenger side is the 100AH deep cycle battery for fridge, inverter etc and the air tank for airbags. There is a divider down the middle. On the passenger side is a whole 800x600 where i will be putting a water tank. Behind the Drivers side wheel arch (spare removed) is a gap in this gap the inverter will sit allowing access from the rear to plug stuff in.
The inverter cam with one positive cord with a alligator clip at one end. I replaced this with some 12mm wire with suitable lugs to attach to positive and negitive terminal of battery.
I have given up on Bunnings to get the ply, they are always out of stock of the size I want, so am hunting down another supplier.
