all these rules suck a big one, although sometimes i can see why the rules are put in place, like the other day driving into newcastle from stockon, i saw a leaf sprung landy lifted about 20 inches (no joke) looking like it was about to roll on every round about.... was ridiculous... there should be a system put in place to remove these rednecks, but keep the well setup 4bies that are safe on the roads on the road... i dont see what the problem is if there is some sort of swerve test and all is certified by an engineer... why is it always in this country that if one clever dick does something wrong everyone else has to suffer... really starting to give me the shites... more systems to filter out clever dicks and less systems that ban fun for everyone i say...

If this happens I think I'll spray my Bilsteins and ARB diff cover black to avoid unwanted attention.
A JK with a mild lift and slightly larger tyres looks pretty well standard if done in proportion to each other.

I just googled 'new lift rules NSW' and its pretty amazing how far these implications are reaching, Holden, Ford, Nissan 4wd and sports car, VW Golf and VW combi forums and heaps of others Racers, 4wds and classics.

As a matter of fact .... its not so much the RTA but the roads minister.

After a few calls again today ... the RTA is about as confused as anybody in regards to how to manage these laws.

Circumstances such as lapsed regos on currently registered vehicles due to finances, ill health etc ?? meaning the new rules will apply on late reregistration.

Not too mention that adjustable suspension adjustments can only occur whilst stationary ... potentially making factory fitted, stability controls systems illegal / unlawful / whatever in NSW.

Perhaps even the fact that servicing your own suspension components may be in jeopardy due to VSI 50 and Mr Daleys wording/terminology.

The more GENUINE complaints the RTA Veh Tech section has ... to take to a special meeting next week ... could be just as beneficial as any petition.

THAT is the rediculous thing about these changes - There ALREADY was rules to get idiots like that off the road - They just weren't very well enforced.
And if the redneck ignored the old rules - guess what he's going to ignore the new ones. So the only people that suffer are those that are trying to be within the rules.
Frikken madness I tells ya.

You'd be amzed at how far reaching these rules are and how much they can hurt the industry AND the enthisist. Although MANY people I've spoken to are either in denial or unaware (still). That why it's so important they we tell everyone just how wrong these rules are - and if it's not stopped this time ( or reversed) you can bet the next round of changes won't be far behind and will be introduced in the same manner.

As worked out with this Tyre calculator.
http://www.1010tires.com/TireSizeCal...?action=submit

Thats an increase in Dia of 40.3mm Therefore i legally couldn't put a 255 17" tyre on my car even though its fitted the the very same later model vehicle!

Its a Ludicrous! And unworkable! Ruling.
Aside from it being ludicrous - it contradicts itself & the ADR. But I suspect the goal is to make it more vehicle specific than model specific (as in the ADR).
But it does highlight how the rule ignores the other manufacturers actual ratings (talking diff manfucturer, the wheel manufacturer etc)

Keep being outraged
