Picked up some Wild Boar grab handles for the front of the JK off Ebay......damned good price, considering where the Pacific Peso has gone lately.
Just fitted them up......nice! Very handy.
I was using those ones that velcro around the roof cage bars, but these solid ones are way better. I moved the Vecro ones to the rear seat roll cage bars.

I think it can work unpainted depending on the Jk colour. Does make it look like a different beast aesthetically speaking.
