I started building my ghetto rock sliders and have learned a few things...
Stirrups, although the right shape to make the support arms are a PITA to use because their L brackets are all over the place.

I am ridiculously bad at welding, not impressed by the finishes at all but it'll have to do for now...

Welding round tube laying on a flat surface is hard and filling that gap between the curvature and flat face is not fun.

LUCKY i had to buy a minimum of 10 lengths of this 40x40x3 2.4m steel at $3 a length so I have a few back ups

Are those 30's Braith?

Getting conflicting info from various parties about legalities in SA but they look to fit just nicely

An angle grinder & a coat of paint is the difference between a good & bad looking weld !! Just turn the amps down a little & fill all the blow holes with chicken sh!t weld bead.

haha thanks, i was hoping that would do the job!

I have a 150AMP gasless mig with 4 setting switches: MIN MAX on one switch and 1 2 on the other. was using MAX and 1 last night with a wire feed of 3 meters a minute on 0.8m wire.

Migs are good. Any one can weld with them. Gas-less is even better as you can use it when there is wind about. Just tack bits of bead to fill the gaps. As long as some of the weld is good it will be strong enough.

Yeah, they're 30s - I think the Wildpeaks might be a big bigger than some though - from what Ive read, 30 means it can be up to 30 but not more, and some go closer than others. Also, I think its a wide tyre, apparently the 9.5 width is measured shoulder to shoulder and because of the sharp shoulders on this design, the side walls end up a fair bit wider than that.

I run 30's on mine and have found that the 30's I have (BFG a/t) are the same width sidewall to sidewall as the stock 225/75's just taller....
