Agreed, 50ft/lb on the OEM trackbar is begging for problems. You are correct though that the OEM track bars are not crush sleeves, they are 5mm thick wall steel tubing, bonded to the rubber bush which is in turn bonded to the outer casing pressed into the track bar ends.

They are designed to twist up the bonded rubber with the stock suspension travel and return to centre (no load on the bush rubber) when vehicle is at rest. What kills a lot of them is not loosening the bolt then sticking in a 2 in lift. The bush is now constantly under a twisting force at the new normal ride height, and if more down travel is acheived (by new shocks or shock extensions) then the bushes are over twisting for what they were designed for.

Yes they should be done up to 125 foot lb, and no the OEM sleeve will not crush under the load, nor should it be able to twist in the mount, hence greasing them is pointless. If they were replaced with hard poly bushes designed to rotate around the bolts or inner sleeve, then yes, greasing would prolong the life and reduce squeaks.

wish i asnt but check the majors fisrt as i would be confident your issue lies with panhard bushes, LCA bushes or angle (with big lift) or tie rod ball joints and also if any of the bolts are not tightened correctly....there is movement in there somewhere that just needs to be fixed and all will be sweet...just use quality after market parts.
I just got back from a big trip and hit some nasty bumps and not even a hint of shimmy let alone DW

I had dw on mine, changed lca's, pan hard rod, bolts all the usual!!! It ended up being the stock tyres, they were worn off to 1 side. I put on my 33's, which I had on second set of rims and not 1 dw. So it goes to show that everything has to be spot on

You're right Wallyd. I had a wj and 2 x DW occurred after 8 years ownership. Ended up being a faulty front tyre. it was out of round. Replaced under Cooper warranty. All good after that. Just shows you what to check.

Sorry I don't buy that at all. I would say that was a trigger not the cause of it. DW IMO has to be due to movement in the steering arms somewhere. I am sure some want agree but I can not see how it can be a cause of a DW as it is a oscillation and a worn tyre can not do this. It may create a vibration and even poor handling but not a DW. I think you fixed a trigger not the issue

Wrangler tj: You are right i have 67k on the clock and if it the tyres itll make 2 sets of tyres already. I changed the last set on advice that it would stop DW from the dealer.

It came back from jeep today with no luck. The dealer basicaly told me if they cant find a fix they wont acknowledge the problem.

Making an appointment to get a suspension specialist check all the things being talked about here.

IT maybe be going back to the dealer for good soon and ill by a Toyota.
