The pic shows the old mechanical throttle brackets and throttle cable removed, and replaced with a simple servo, the blue gyzmo bottom right. The carb butterfly valve lever is extremely easy to operate, so the little servo should be ok.

I picked Jaycar's Duinotech Classic Uno, for the controller, being held in my hand. It's the Jaycar clone of the Arduino Uno.

I'm using an Arduino Hall Effect sensor to pick up the north magnetic field off the stator wheel magnets, as it turns, to monitor revs.

Anyway, turns out we're going to see 'IT' at the movies this arvo, so...another distraction from a distraction
I thought mowers should be ran at WOT, to be as annoying as possible, guess I was wrong

Still looking forward to getting the heads off. Hopefully I make time for it this upcoming weekend.
Any update, Hoobz?

I'm actually going to get back into it tonight.
It's been a while.

So, at this point nothing to update.

I'm looking forward to seeing the heads off

Well, I lied.

Still haven't done any more disassembly on it.

I'm excited to get out again, drive it around, but just incredibly snowed under with other stuff.

My missus said I really need a time budget.

Allocate time for all your activities, write a list up, how long for this, how long for that, and stick to it.

Hate to admit it guys but she's right.

I've just gotten so carried away with some other stuff recently.

Arrow So I hit the garage afterall,,,

After waffling on above I found some motivation.
  • Disconnected the fuel rail and injectors.
  • Moved the left hand wiring loom out of the way.

The left hand bank can be accessed ok now.

Lookit all those crumbly thick mud chunks chilling there on the uni body rail

In moving that section of wiring loom out of the way I could not help but wonder how many times the wiring was brittle for people...one broke deep back inside here...and oh %$#@ that's got to make you want to kick puppies

I had a crack at removing the heater hosing. Would. Not. Budge.
Shhhtuck sholid. Big hands can't get in there to twist the fuggers around.
Gave up for tonight.

Probably the original hoses, cut the suckers, then a cut along it and you can peel it off, haha, I hate hoses

Sent from under my Grand Cherokee

Post Wet day, so I chose some garage time at home rather than go to work

This isn't going to fix itself, so while lying in bed this morning listening to the rain I decided to work on the Grand Cherro

I had a good time. Very relaxing

Everyone loves pics, right?

A bit disappointed about all those early Mobil 1 oil changes and it's still pretty rude inside. 130,000 kms

Speaking of rude, all the cam lobes were growing rusticles, Titanic style

Hmmm...let's have a look under the heads. Probably not too bad right?

What do we have here? Some scoring, and WTF in the second one!!! PLUS these are the only two bores I can see at the moment

There's two of these fairly decent bore scores in this cylinder alone

I tried and tried to rub any part of this out. Didn't budge a bit. Can you see a very fine crack

Standing water in these two for a while

There was a very clear pathway between the third and fourth cylinders, at the narrowest point. I forgot to take a pic before I cleaned the area up a bit

And one last pic of the rusticles again, just for the sicko's

What is the general consensus?

A/ Do some very basic patching up, reassemble, delete this thread, then whack it up in the classifieds for 8 grand. Low kilometres. Full engineer cert. Yadda yadda

B/ Full engine rebuild / replace

C/ Other. Explain

I'll take the right hand head off soon. Looking through the oil filler hole I can't see any moisture under the rocker cover of that one.

All said and done, we don't have much choice really. We all love going out in it. I love driving it. I've spent a zillion hours getting it to where we like it. So we're keeping it
