Woo hoo, the cooling fan doesn't go off it's dot anymore when a DPF burn takes place...exhaust temp went to the usual mid 600's doing a burn and I could not hear the cooling fan at all!

It may have also been tweaked to come on earlier too, as in traffic the temp at one point hit 103c, but then quickly began falling back to 96c or 97c...it would not drop back much at all previously and would head toward 106c - 107c before air movement saw the temp come back a tad.

Hopefully, fingers crossed, that new / old thermostat coupled with a cooling fan that actually comes on will see coolant and oil temps much lower.

Tomorrow the big test will be towing the van over Cunnighams Gap...

Winner winner....conquered Cunninghams Gap with max temp 105....oil 115. Before the cooling fan fix and replaced thermostat, coolant would have easily been 112c and oil 130c.
Cruises now at 100kmh towing van...coolant 96c and oil a07c...

Started it up...with a pre-start prime(foot off brake pedal n push go button)....after being away at the 'salt mines' for a week or so....let it idle for a few minutes....backed up n wasnt happy with what I saw...large 'stain' on the driveway....no odour...not 'oily' to the touch....was 10pm at night so no checking anything until tommorow....bloody cars !!!!
