Default Wanted Help - WJ Diesel Snorkel development ASAP

Evening all, I received this message from Michael this afternoon - if you are able to give technical advice on this matter please post it to this forum and Michael will read it.

Hi JohnWe have had a WJ petrol in on friday
to check the diesel fit up. all is good on that front.
We having trouble working out what the two parts are on the inner guard, if we can move them?
If you could ask it would help as the car is in Hobart
The photo's are from a bloke in Tas who has been most helpful.
See attached
This is the space we intend to bring in the air, in WJ and WH
we need to resolve this to move forward.
Regards
Michael

Unfortunately the photos have been turned into a PDF format and are too big to upload onto this website, if any one has mechanical knowledge of a WJ CRD (Diesel) please PM me your email address and I will forward the photos.
Alternately if a moderator can help out - I will send the photo in that direction
many thanks johnv

Hi Johnv,

I have attached the photos that I sent Michael.

I'm not an expert on the engine at all.... but Michael is talking about the small round cylinder and the larger box that is sitting between the air filter and the side of the engine bay. It runs into the turbo... I am guessing it has something to do with pollution control... but I could be completely wrong

Both of these components are bolted onto a plate which can be moved (it appears so). The question is where....

The second shot shows a gap behind the air filter and the fire wall - where it may looks like it could fit. There is even a bracket (no idea why it is there) sitting below, where a plate could be attached and then these two components moved to.... looks half doable without saying for sure it can be done.

I have the 2004 CRD... would be interesting if this set up is the same on all the models... Drover... is it on yours?

Hope this helps mate...

Cheers
Chumby.

Hi all,

The WH CRD doesn't have these things between the airbox and the body, it s clear. All that has to happen is to negotiate the body stiffening rib on the inner mud guard to get to the outside. it wouldn't be wise to drill through this as it is an integral part of the body and required for strength.

Cheers

We have another thread on this subject that has been going for some time, however it is beginning to get "lost"

Because of the off subject chatter it is unclear just how many people are GENUINE BUYERS, when they shortly become available.

Please respond to this thread ONLY with your model and fuel details so I can send Michael Kirk-Williams from Gibson RM a link to this thread which will enable him to forward plan production.

I will send him the link in a few weeks so that an accurate gauge can be established.

Hopefully he will agree to a group buy when we get that far -
No he doesn't know that I am doing this, he should be pleasantly surprised!
As I and others have said in the past, he is a professional, exacting and helpful manufacturer.

The ball is in your court, cheers johnv
I have a snorkel fitted to my WJ 4 litre Grand. You may have seen pictures of it on articles in the Jeep Action mags. Obviously not a Jeep part and I too have been reading the forum here for quite a while to realise that the big companies dont make them to suit. Its been on for about 2 years now. Didnt help fuel economy which I expected it to do but it does keep the engine clean.
