The Old Canton 3 way splits that I posted a pic of in another thread cost a fair bit more then that back around 1998 and thats for the fronts only, no amps, head unit etc....

I would however suggest that if your evaluation of a speaker system is "it plays loud enough" then this sort of gear is not for you as volume level is never a judgement criteria for a sound quality system...

Not really an evaluation of the speaker system more so the whole system as I do understand no matter how good the speakers it won't be loud unless you have something to drive them. I guess from my point of view the majority of people I know tend not to spend much at all on stereo systems. By that I mean like $100 head units and Voxon speakers. So for me I guess I have the best I can afford and I don't really need it any better. Given what your saying JJ a fair few would say my system sounds rubbish. But compared to what my family and friends have in their new cars as standard equipment it is far better and clearer when played loud. I get annoyed that people who my guess is must have plenty of disposable income would say my $600 approx set up is rubbish. Because I have heard systems that are by far worse than what I have. So I can't see why people are saying that my system is about as bad as it gets, well that is the way it is coming across.

Regards A
