Taking a "beer break" from pulling out the upper rear control arm to replace the rubbers. I got a 10-tonne bench-top hydraulic press for Christmas.

I usually have a no-alcohol policy when working on cars, but those three bolts on top of the diff have driven me to drink! One out, two half out and I'm stuffed. How the hell did Jeep make these bolts so that they fight you to the very last thread?! What are they? Oversized bolts in undersize fitted holes with loctite on them?! (Insert cussing here.) I get a mental picture of Mercedes-Benz engineers trawling the Jeep threads looking for this type of comment so they can laugh at us in their spare time!

When i was doing mine, i loosened them and soaked them in wd40 overnight, came out easy the next day. After reading all the horror stories i decided to go with the wd40 approach before even trying.

If it's any consolation to your agony, I think it was Mopar engineers that designed it

I got it done. The 10 tonne press was only just enough to press in the new bushes. I use bits from a mechanical ball joint press kit with the hydraulic press.

On reassembly, I bolted the ball joint to the diff first, which gave me room for the pneumatic rattle gun. Much easier.

I removed a wheel nut. It took several hours!

Changed the transmission mount. No more vibration at 1700 rpm and seems like the vibration between 2100 and 2300 rpm quieted down to almost nothing.

Because the newer mount is softer than the old one, the transfer case can contact the oem skid, so I opted to keep it off for now.
