Default KK Snorkel

This is what some do on the R50 Pathfinder. We use the existing hole the factory intake draws air from underneath the top of the left guard, then use a pipe with two 90deg adapters to make a 'Z' shape inside the guard, to meet up with where the Navara snorkel comes through the guard. Some just go straight into the guard and hide the plumbing in the guard.

This is a really good thread to read about fitting snorkels when theres no proper kit.

And for ppl that can read exploded parts diagrams...if only I could get a CD for the KK like I have for Nissan parts.

Actually, its not silly to buy a snorkel before a car, as no car I buy is going to have one already!?

I'm tempted to have a crack at it, have you asked for a price on the KJ snorkels yet?

I had a look at it for CRD but the air box was in a different position, further forward. But I think it would have worked with some creative tube bending and welding. Also the curvature at the A pillar bend was wrong and the longitudinal angle on the KK is sharper. But with effort it would work, but in the end i thought it just looked dumb.

That does appear to be the case going by this pic of hopwrecked diesel KK.

Wiz.au has reached out to them. They did have two available though, possibly a diesel and petrol.

Think I might have to cut and reweld the top of the snorkel where it moulds over the bonnet side/edge, make the fender side of the snorkel flat. Maybe I could do it with some form of jig and the right amount of heat in the right place to flatten that angle along the inside face of the snorkel. Its amazing what a heatgun and towel can do to thermoforming plastics.

I was tempted to try and use another model or makes snorkel and run a modified internal length between the external and internal panels, flattened out and entering in through the monocoque just behind the headlight so as to not cause any loss of strength over the suspension section. But I’m no engineer. That solution seemed to be the most appropriate and would give the least amount on bends and not require the air box to be modified, which I’ve done on other cars of mine and just ends in tears with MAFS etc.
