if still under warranty, have the delaer to replace it. if not, take it off and clean it, or have it cleaned by a mechanic. it's just 3 torx bolts to undo, and a new one is quoted ~$700 even by jeepengines.com.au, let alone imagine the price form CJ stealership.

Why won't it make a difference, by the dealer has order a new egr, but Chrysler say 3 weeks til it arrives.

yeah euge i think you nailed it. if the engine starts and won't idle or has no power the egr valve is stuck open. this is the problem with the valve. eventully soot will clog up all valves and close off the gas, and the driver won't even be aware it has happened. so you may as well block it off at day one and get it over with. best to take it off, clean it , replace it , and block off the vacuum. macca 2108 found the simplest method. just get one of those little one way valves they used in pcv system vacuum lines and stick it in the egr vacuum line near the valve assembly. cheap and easy and reversible if need be.

the normal position of the valve is in the shut position. it is opened when a vacuum is applied to the valve diaphram. when the vacuum is stopped the valve closes. if soot or a malfunction sticks the valve open, it won't close when the vacuum is removed, so it remains permanently open, till you clean it or replace it. to disable the vavle after it is cleaned and able to close, you just block the vacuum line and it can't open any more.

Ok I tried blocking the vacuum hose going to the egr with a screw, we resets the Ecu but still no go, no throttle I guess I'll have to wait for the egr to arrive which is in 3 weeks, that's 2 months the jeep will be at the dealer.

have you removed the egr valve assembly and checked it? your problem will be in there.
