Slow Fill
Having said that I usually get 1/2 a tank full then have to dick around. Maybe 10min max when it plays up.
I've got mine booked in at the dealer week after next for the fix (valve I'm sure). It's in for a service and some other stuff as well so why not.
If it keeps costing them money to deal with it maybe they will take more notice, even if it is only in future models.
If it doesn't work then I'll get them to fit a hose for me.

Just curious how many people have done the quick fix, or have had joy with the dealer fix?

And Yup, mine's the CRD as well.

that's a good question. certainly i think everyone who has tried the hose change will have had success. a few of the valve fix people will have had success, although what percentage we won't know. but from the posts on this thread, a heap of people have had no success after multiple valve fixes or some partial success. seems to indicate which way to go. but hey my vehicle is fixed, stevil's vehicle is fixed, and anyone else who has used stevil's method has had their vehicle fixed. at the end of the day if people want to continue wasting time on a valve fix that has a very small chance of success that's up to them. most of us have beter things to do.

Hi MicQ - i am with you 100% there if you can't fill up properly from the normal diesel bowser keep kicking their arse - i really dont think the owner of a brand new car is asking too much that you can fill it up properly

Hi Homedg - now you are cooking make them fix the valves and if that don't work make THEM change the hose as per Stevils solution. you are quite right "If it keeps costing them money to deal with it maybe they will take more notice," . sometimes you just have to make a stand there are 100's of examples where its quicker to just fix it yourself but that does not make it the right way to do it.

I can only say that on mine the valve was fixed and it works - i still have the standard filler neck and tube so if that was a real problem mine would still not fill up fast enough - the plain fact is it does so obviously as marginal as it may look to some it is as they say "sufficient unto the task"

Wink Self help time for slow diesel fill problem

We seem to keep 're-inventing the wheel' here. Clearly some are having trouble with reasonable filling times...and others are not. Certainly ...when one looks at the diameter of the fuel pump hose...the pressure of the fuel going in...and the 'garden hose' running from the car inlet to the tank... the sums really don't add up. What is the CRD ..79 litres ? (standard tank on Unlimited). I'd think anything over 6 minutes to fill ...on a regular basis.. would tell me there is a problem. As for those that have spent 20 mins plus..... No thanks. Yes ..by all means...get the valves done..if thats the 'Jeep fix' (and you'll have to have it done anyway before going to step two if you're pursuing the warranty trail or I'd imagine the dealers will fob you off)...then if it doesn't work... 'go the 32mm Stevil hose'...preferably sanctioned by the dealership... if they will comply. If needs...and finances permit... the long range tank. Finally...a Jeep that has a touring range ..to hold it's head up to compared to Toyota and Nissan... I'd like to see that.
... Just as a matter of interest.. what is the normal..or most common diameter hose running from filler neck to tanks on diesels in general... ? In Jeeps own range...does the Grand..run larger pipe..or more fall...or or or ?

Micq, I assume your taking the vehicle to Armstrongs. Might be worthwhile driving down the hill to a Brisbane dealer to let them have a go. I had no end of problems with Armstrongs working on my TJ.
