Got the car back from AirFlow today.

By the looks of it, they are pretty close to sorting the snorkel out.

I'd love it if it was ready for the start of July for my Coongie Lakes trip...

Cheers

Latest installment...

I decided to something radical re the DRL's.

I bought a pair of Philips Daylight 8's off Amazon - best price I could find.

They arrived yesterday so - into it!

I thought of wiring them up as per the Philips instructions with their control box, but decided against it as they would not go off with the turn indicator as required by our regulations - as far as I can tell from the ADR.

Instead I simply cut the wires to length, threaded them through the grill and up to each existing DRL socket. I tapped the DRL wiring to power each light separately.

I worked out that the DRL's were exactly the width of the two inside slots in the grill. The vertical slots in the grill are done in sets between the wide vertical signature Jeep bars.

I simply snipped the little horizontal plastic bar which holds the black vertical bars apart and pushed the DRL into the slot. Tight as and fits flush. Better than a bought one! I will apply some Sikaflex to make sure they stay put, but the fit is very tight.

Some pictures:

They are very bright - about the came as the OEM ones on European cars and they are rated to the European standard.

Now, on to the next challenge!

I'm booked in to the dealers on Friday to something new fitted... More on Friday!

Cheers

Well, I just wasted a few hours, thanks Mr Jeep!

Last Friday I was at the dealer and the spare parts guys said Jeep had just listed a pair of front recovery hooks for the WK2.

You beauty, I thought, finally! I said can you get a pair in to check out. No, someone has to order them. Fine, I'll order a pair and we can all have a look at them!

They arrived a day after ordering and I arranged to drop in for fitting today. I arrived and they pulled the front off the car.

No, they don't fit! They will fit the USA chassis rails I reckon, but not ours,

Bugga!!! They were similar to the Trailhawk ones, nice, wide open hooks, long enough to poke out the front. Only problem, tow main bolts have nothing to bolt to...

So if your dealer tells you they have a pair of front recovery hooks for a WK2, tell them they don't!

Does anyone know who makes the passenger side hook Jeep sell? The chassis rails are identical on both sides, just a mirror image. Who ever makes the existing hook can just tell their CAD software to mirror the existing plan and, bingo, driver's side hook!

Cheers

Pretty sure that DRL's don't have to extinguish with the turn signal. That's just a Jeep thing. My wifes Focus has them built into the headlight assembly and they don't go out when you indicate, but the DRL's are of the LED variety, unlike the Jeep.

I thought I read somewhere a DRL within 100 mm of an indicator had to go off on the side with the working indicator... Oh, well, maybe I imagined it. It is definitely much easier to see the indicator if the DRL is off.

Cheers
