A lot of people call 'em a tractor motor, , but I think they're ok. Rattly, no rocket, but they're torquey for their size. I have a Webber carby and balance shaft delete kit to go in when I get a round tuit. Till then, just enjoy as a old jap DD.

cheers
I had a GE 2.0 auto back in the day, I pulled the 2.0 out as it seized plus the 2.0 litres were crap anyway, dropped in a 2.6 with a close ratio jap alloy case 5 speed, this along with the flywheel from a 2.0 and the diff ratios to match the 2.0/auto made it a rocket, not a great deal of top end but got there very quickly, awesome on hills too.
I reckon a pair of SU's would be great on that, maybe 2" or 2.25" if you can find a manifold to suit...
The other mod that was semi popular was to use the head, manifolds and injection set up from a magna....

No flames from me, some people claim Xj's are crap, doesn't make them right....

The 2.0 litre was a turd of an engine, soft meaning they wore quickly but would erv like crazy, before I replaced the engine in my GH it would rev off the dial, used oil but ran till I pulled it out....

Planning to do the stabiliser bushings, links, front axle u-joints, brakes lines front and rear and right brake calliper today. Will likely spent half the day on the u-joints haha.
Let alone the UCA axle bushings...need to be ready for Straddie in two weeks with no spare time.
