The wire connector was backwards too, but it all went in, and when all said and done, buttoned it all up with fresh fluid, cranked the ol' girl into life and lo an behold, she pulled away in D!!!

Nice. Where did you score that one from? Looks way bigger than any I've seen.

I replaced all three solenoids on mine yesterday too, must be the season for it. I was having issues with the OD and the 1-2 one when hot(ie. wouldn't select 1st when in D) so I thought since I was in there I'll swap them all out.

I recently had my box rebuilt...... If only I had it checked by an expert I too could have gotten away with replacing the solenoids.....

Will we are talking about gearboxs mines went weird again yesterday after noon. No matter how little throttle it would hold the gear until 4500rpm then came right again, check engine light, high idle some times on but it wont spit any codes out and my cousin is away so cant use his snap on scan tool.

Anyone know of anything i should be looking at to start with. Im stuggling to find anyone who had this problem and fixed it on google

While trawling around for how to diagnose mine I did pick up that that kind of behaviour is usually triggered when the TCU fails/gets bypassed. You can also check the behaviour by unplugging the TCU, either under the glovebox or the connector in the engine bay highlighted in my thread below.

Yeah its just doing it constant now. Went to start checking stuff but my multi meter is flat so i just pulled the auto fues and am driving it as a 3 speed manual shift.

Though it drives 100% the same and dosnt throw the engine light with the tps unplugged

Hey darkside, I was given two transmissions, but one of them was supposed to have new solenoids in it. Unfortunately, the mate that gave me the tranies, was also given a bum steer I think, as both transmissions were absolutely raped when I opened them up. .

Nothing bolted up, everything is just floating inside them.

In one of the trans I found two solenoids, the large one in the pic and another just like it. They both test fine, just the other one was a little loose in the valve body, must have a worn 'o' ring.

They are monsters though, eh. ? Couldn't believe it when it fit.

Just wish we could take it for a decent test drive, not just back n forth in the back yard.

cheers
