Not sure where you are, but we only took delivery of ours in June. After the first week with the hard top on we swapped to the soft top to see what it was like. The idea was to use it for a week or so, just out of curiosity more than anything.

Well 3 months and 4000km later the hard top is still sitting at the front of the garage and tha soft top is still on. Have been on a trip from Noosa to Byron and back, and several trips up the Noosa North shore to Rainbow beach. Most trips involve at least flipping the 'Sunrider" open and dropping the rear window. Couldnt imagine trying to do that with the hard top.

I think ours will end up in the shed (when I build the shed...)

I noticed that. Hopefully the colour matched roof will help the car keep its value.
Not to mention the nasty pinstripes it would get that would forever give you the shits after it's first bush trip. Knowing that i'd spent 2k on it would just about bring me to tears and the thought of facing the missus when she sees them would make my balls want to find a new home deep inside my stomach so they don't cop a kick.

Not sure about holding its value. A Jeep is a bad investment and shouldn't be bought unless you can afford to keep throwing money at it

If you go off-road scratches, chips and dings will happen, that all part of owning a true 4x4. My missus would say "you get that when you go off road followed by She'll Be Right". That's a bonus of having a Jeep Chick

im seriously considering spraying the hard top with that raptor bed liner, atleast it wont scratch when i look at it. only 2 things hold me back, how smooth i can get the spray and waiting for it to warm up.

Doesnt help i was just trying to replace the bolts and use real rubber on the mbrp rack and scratched the shit out of a section.

Ive taken it offroad twice since ive owned it and both with the soft top. As i mentioned the plan is only to use the hardtop for city driving. Ive had too many mates get there soft top's slashed in carparks.

And its my car not the missus

I think you took it out of context - I was refering to the point that it would look like a 2011 wrangler and less like a 2010 or younger, but I understand what your saying and I dont plan on thrashing the paintjob.

I will be doing alot more offroading so I can accept the inevitable that its not going to always look brand new. But thanks to products like AutoSkin you dont have to worry about 'pinstripes' unless you actually bush bashing and not staying on tracks. For example my bosses black 200 series still looks brand new and he pushes it through the narrowest of beach tracks thanks to that stuff

My point is my wife would hold a very dim view of me spending 2k on making something look pretty and then coming home with it all scratched up. She has no worries with what i do or if i spend money to make it safer or more capable, but if i was spending money just on the bling factor like you have for the roof her understanding would be stretched thin. that is why i'd take it of every time i was going bush or in my case not do it in the first place.

I think he means not paint the roof in the first place..

I agree, it looks pretty schmick, but then I took mine off a week after I got it and its sat in the garage ever since... But this is QLD, brilliant one day and perfect the next, tops of any sort optional
