All the Brutes here are or have been done with the AEV tub. No flatbeds. With the longer Brute wheelbase it could look quite good if done properly. I would use the tub closure panel from the brute kit to close out the cab but extending the cab would make it just the absolute best Jeep goin round I reckon. The yellow one, JeepKonnection yellow Brute has not been in the outback challenge. Owner driver who has raced his TJ in the outback is the same Bloke though. Allan Mcmullen.
I have a pic on my computer of the short wheel base flatbed, let me dig it up.
I dont know if nicolash is talking anout this one but this one has a soft top.
When Allan was racing the wrangler when it was yellow it was more of a tube rear end than a flatbed. Not a Brute.

Here is the Album on photobucket.

Here is the old thread on this forum not worth much but neverthless its there.

We think alike. My plan here is to get a Tj Wrangler tub, and do this off to the side this summer (Alaska ) And hopefully have the cab done by winter time. Then I can keep my Tj on the trail this summer, and start swapping this winter.

Just like you said, I am going to build the Brute cab. Do the frame lengthing kit when I swap the tubs out. Then flatbed the thing. I just think that set-up would make the ultimate little wheeler. And of course, it gets me one step closer to coming down there to compete in the OBC My dream...

there will be a couple more brutes making their debut here soon... but neither have a trayback. i've only ever seen US tj's with a tray.

i'll be looking into doing this in the next 5 years or so. my bad boy is starting to rust up here and there.

have you checked out pirate4x4? i'm sure some kids on there would have done it.

looking forward to seeing your build! make sure you keep us posted on it mate.
I have searched through the PBB. I didnt find much of anything. A lot of the guys there say the AEV stuff is a bit spendy to fool with. Which it is expensive, but they do have it now where you can build as you go. Buy the kit in pieces.

I am ordering the tub here Monday (yes ordering....) I have searched Alaska extensive, and there are zero TJ tub up here. And if it is... Its a pile of parts. So I found Oly4x4 has a ton of TJ tubs in Washington. Washington is the main shipping post for getting goods to Alaska. So I am getting a good price on the tub, and a good price to barge it up in a crate. When I get the tub, I will start a thread about the project. And hopefully get pointers from the experts!

Closest thing I've found to my idea. Just doesnt have a flat bed. But does have the frame lengthing kit.

oddly enough i can tell the difference. sigh.

oly4x4 are great. even though aus isn't as close to washington as you guys, they still have very decent shipping prices to aus too.

Well, I've done it. Been talking about doing this for awhile, and finally got the chance. I converted my wrangler to a AEV Brute. Still has a date with the paint shop. UTE ltd in Seattle, Wa built a aluminum UTE bed for it. Which I should have sometime next week. Here are some pictures of my Brute as a cab and chasis I used AEV's Frame stretch kit, AEV's cab closeout, and of course AEV's hardtop.
