I would've expected he would use the glass from his current OEM mirrors in the new assembly(s), assuming the aftermarket housings use the same fixture for either the glass or tilt motor.

Is the angle of the assembly itself different? I haven't looked closely but they seem symmetrical to me, with the different angle provided by the tilt motor(?)

You're quite right there. One could use the glass provided the fastening clip shape is the same. They differ sometimes depending on the series, make year, aftermarket proprietary design or however they decide to make these subtle changes.

Our driver's side is USA's passenger's side and there is a very small angle difference which isn't easy to compare with the naked eye. Ask me how I know? I smashed mine a couple of years ago and had the same problem. Solved it finally by getting the housing (and glass) from Pick n Payless Blacktown for $55. I had bought a replacement from the USA earlier with funny angles n mag. The clip mirror from the UK helped somewhat but the housing from the states still did not provide enough "into" the car angle. So that's through experience, not hard data.

I'm sure someone else would have the low down on it better. Ask Dave Wooders, he has an encyclopedic knowledge of Jeeps and other stuff. Whether you get through to him is a different matter.

Yeah bit different if bits fell out. Mine was not hit hard just out of whack. Fine again when motored back into alignment.

Give Jim a call, he'll sort you out cheap.
