Thanks for your input. I'm currently in the UK and will be for the next few weeks whilst I unfortunately have to organise a funeral. My Mrs is still in Sydney and driving it and has reported that the resonation now also appears at around 2000 rpm and sounds "exhausty" in her terms, lol, which I'm thinking she means it sounds like a bogan commodore, but I can't be sure.

I'm starting to think it could be something with the cat, but I am also leaning towards your assumptions. Guess for the time being I'll just have to let it be.

Very frustrating

Thanks for your help though man

It might me the airflow meter having crap on it. Get a can of cleaner from Supercheap or wherever, and spray it out thoroughly. Also, the little sensor next to it.

sounds like the harmonic balancer of your crankshaft pulley.
The rubber wears out with kilometres and age.

No DPF, it's too early, but I assumed the CAT was the large cylindrical lump straight off the turbo?

That was one of my first assumptions but it doesn't look unhealthy and if you look at it whilst the engine is running there is no noticeable lumpiness.

It's only got 67'000 kms on it, but it is 9 years old. Worth another look I guess when I get back

9 year old rubber, no different to tyres. I don't know how much the balancer is for a Jeep, but was cheap on the cars I owned and most probably will solve your problem. And if it is the balancer being the fault, it is not good for your crankshaft and the rest of parts that are associated with it.
Good luck

Yes that is the stock cat converter.
