The Warn 9.5 CTI-s is one of the fastest Low Mount Winch's you can buy, I've got one, love it! pricey sure but it should last the car so its a good investment.

Making it an easy choice, these other blokes almost had me roped into the m8000 . Seriously though, both options are sounding pretty durable but a significant saving on the m8, this is going to take some consideration.

Have a read here (link)...lots of feedback on lots of different makes of winch.

For what its worth, after doing my research, I bought a Runva 9500lb for my 2 door.....its more for those "bugger" moments than regular use, and the price and backup on them seemed very good value.

Wow I would have thought the zeons would have been warrantable if submerged. What's the point of a waterproof winch if you can't get it wet?

Great thread there, and I can see there's a shitload of cash to be saved with the Runva as well as some of the other brands mentioned as "buy". It's still a fair bit to lose should it turn out crap, but a hell of a lot less than if Warn pulls the plug on warranty due to water. I'll be stopping by ARB this week and will see what they have to say about the Warns, whatever goes on will be getting reasonably wet.

Winches that aren't waterproof have been around for a long time and some old ones are still going strong. Water ingress in a winch doesn't mean that's the end of it. If you use it once a month or so to pull out a few metres of rope, have it serviced once a year or longer depending on how much it has been used, check that the drain holes are not blocked and after being submerged, run it for a while so that the heat will help any trapped moisture to evaporate, it should last you years.

Ended up speaking to ARB briefly about the warn / water / warranty, and that's basically the response I got.

I'm leaning back towards the Warn since I get the impression if it's looked after it'll last, and I have no problem looking after things especially when they cost that much. The warranty thing is a bit of a let down, but if it ends up bumming me at least the replacement options will be inexpensive in comparison, this is good because parts like to fail on me just after I've just spent a bunch of money on something else.

Thanks for all the input, has been very interesting
