Deleting the air plenum chamber, replacing with stainless and pod filter made more of a difference. Snorkel's mainly to compliment, it looks better, and if I want to, later I can covert it to fully sealed if I want to. Biggest gains so far have been removing the viscous fan.
If you want some cold air you could glue pieces of 10mm polystyrene to the airbox and wrap all the hoses in aluminium backed fiberglass. I did that about 2 years back and after a trip the intake manifold was quite cool to touch. However, cooler air can hold more fuel and although it goes like the clappers fuel consumption goes up.
Engine bay temps can be reduced by removing the sound deadening material from under the bonnet and removing the bash plate to let it breath better. If you're not doing any rock hopping that bash plate is a hindrance. My a/c has never worked so all superfluous gear has been removed opening up the engine bay. You don't get a blast of heat when you open the bonnet.

This is the same method I used when I installed my snorkel. Except I went into the bottom of the air box and used normal air filter.
I did reinstall the washer bottle. I cut off about 100mm if I remember correctly. Then cut the end off that piece and siliconed it back into the washer. Reinstalled it back in original position.
