I sort of did the same, but ran it under the dash and around by the air vent and she sits snuggly there.
Like others have said, it's a piece of piss to do.

I had one of those on my last WK2...I could never set it up so i was happy, so I ended up just leaving it turned off. I haven't refitted it to the current Jeep, it is sitting in a drawer here...maybe if you get it set up let me know what setting you find best...

I remember it took me a while to find the 'sweet spot', tried setting U3 through to U6, anything higher I found too twitchy and less than U3 pretty pointless. Eventually I stayed on U6. It's very subjective though, some like it HOT, others NOT, so trail around and you'll find what's the most satisfying setting for YOU.

I have had mine on forabout 1 year now, finally decided u2 was the
Ideal setting for me. Otherwise it gets a bit too touchy on throttle. If you do any 4wdriving, you can go the other way to ease your way over rocks and stuff.

I imagined it would take a bit of experimenting till I found the right setting, mostly want to get rid of the lag from a standing start, with rural driving and rarely stop/start city stuff, the odd local stop sign will be my trial area .......... 3 stop signs in town and nearest set of lights well over 50 kms away, I will see how it goes when I get behind the usual fuddy duddy on the main road doing 70 in a 100, thats where I will see how twitchy it is.................... Just thought when Mrs D gets in I better turn it off, she was once a drag racer in the old FWDs we had but now not so sharp....
Thanks for the tips everyone its all so handy getting a head start with the various views, locale, driving style and even tyres would make things different ....
I know when they first brought out the XJ I took one for a test run, local mob trusted me so I went up a nice fire trail on the Toowoomba range, my first thought was this is a twitchy throttle for rough stuff, I still wished I had bought one, stupid house payments as usual won out.... Haven't found the WKs throttle all that twitchy..

Don't forget to try the total opposite way when you are rock crawling or on rutted, bouncy terrain. It will take the bumping of the throttle out with your foot and make things nice and smooth
