Spacers are illegal in Aus too, so I'm not sure of the wisdom of publishing such data / seen to be encouraging their use.
This info is right through this forum if people want to search far enough. It's fine that someone now wants to put it together in one place for some of the newer members but really do we have to spoon feed those people to stupid to read the information and realise someone is talking about a WH and someone else a WJ. This is what makes the info harder to find over time. If they are not bright to work it out they maybe should be on the Toyota forum.

The early 5 spoke 17" JK rims are the same 17 x 7.5 but the offset is 44.45mm. They fit the WJ with no spacers required.

I did think though that the Commander rims were the same 44.45mm offset.

JK 17" Rims are the same offset as Commander rims meaning they will sit 6 mm further out than standard WH rims or WJ 17 x 7.5" rims. ie, Overland rims
However, JK rims will not clear the front calipers on a WH.
JK 17" rims fit a WJ no problems and definitely move the rim away from the rear shocks.

Thanks boost, but can you clarify which JK 17" rims you are referring to? The 5-spoke Moab style ones like this?

We need to be clear about this to avoid confusion.

[quote="Clarky"(In the photo thread)] I was under the impression that JK would bolt straight up to a WJ/G (smaller brakes)?

Yes, all early JK wheels bolt straight up to WJ/WG GC's without brake caliper contact issues. However, brake caliper contact was not the reason why I didn't get the 17" 5-spoke Moab style rims - I understood that the backspacing was 6.25", more than my WJ's 6". These links seem to confirm this:

Please note that the thread you have linked refers to the earlier 2007 16" JK rims which I believe had less backspacing than standard WJ rims (5.75" from memory), which meant that they were much better for clearance. Actually, I just found a thread confirming this:

http://www.wranglerforum.com/f27/sto...6s-168943.html

Anyone confused yet?
