Not so sure as the black pinky pic is sooty looking so has to be exhaust I reckon, not sure about a leaky head letting soot into coolant system though, if soot gets in its not a small break so be oil as well as bubbles, so I lean to EGR and a sealer would seal that up for a little while.
But if its sorted then all good, my WG had a leak from rear of engine from the welsh plug but they used a screw bung, difficult to get at so iIchucked some Nulon bung it up in the system, stopped leaking and all good for the next 100K km......... worked for me though the purists will call down the engine gods.

Yeah Drover, thought about exhaust but gee even if egr it would be pretty unusual to circulate around the motor coolant and still come out like soot ,of course only my view .If exhaust it could only be getting in under compression !I have seen oil getting in from the oil cooler filling up the tank! As I said was a leakdown test done .

That occurred to me as well as I initially thought it would just dissolve in the coolant, I can only recall oil changing the colour and leaving a residue though did once encounter rust changed the colour and also left particles, like brown soot, need to squish it between my fingers to get a the nitty gritty, so to speak....

But what about a hose breaking down, particles wouldn't dissolve, coolant could be lost and bits would float around in the system for ages, the gunge is just the stop leak that Jeep put in....
