sounds like some shit is in the slushbox - most likely the valvebody. - sometimes a gearbox oil flush will cure it. most transmission places are able to do this (not cheap - but fast)

so how would slush do this.. and what is it made of to jam or do such to the tranny.. i was looking over GoJeeps site and was gonna replace the filter item hopefully soon and the oil..

im not worried about the problem atm.. its nasty and all but its gonna be worrying when it comes time to go offroad and try get up a hill and have to come halfway down it again and then try to go up but my tranny just wont kick in or somthing.. ill go out this w/e and buy a tranny conditioner which is supposed to help.. yet i duno how all those Wynns products work.. stop leak, stop smoke and what not..

this may be a long shot but check the rear brake shoes are not grabbing. They do have a habit of being a bit touchy to get right. Try reversing with the handbrake on (not too hard) to possibly give it an even grab to see if it still does the shudder.

good luck

I doubt it's your transfer case or diff or tyres.
I COULD be the transmission.....But I agree with JB - pull the rear driveshaft (use part time 4x4).
If it's still happening then I'd be looking seriously as the tranny....oh yeah double check the transmission mount just incase.

Also make sure the driveshaft slip yoke is nicely greased up - it that's dry it will stick a bastard and COULD be your problem too...
But next to impossible to diagnose over the net.....So I'd suggest have a quick squizzy and if you can't solve it get someone (a mech) to have a look at it.

what are rear brakes and a hand brake?? lol im serious... mine are worn and dont grab at all they do maybe 5% of the braking.. and the handbrake.. doesnt even grab.. and if i lever it on exreemly hard it will hold the car in drive but if i get out and give it a nudge by hand it will start rolling. it feels as tho its transmission sorta problems at work here.. ill see what happens.

It SHOULD be only in & out. But if the splines are dry they can stick and there will be bugger all movement - and guess what happens when the slip don't slip
