perhaps I should buy a tool, can anyone recommend a tool thats not too expensive to read faults,erase etc?

Autel maxiscan ms310 obd11/eobd scanner, cheap enough and it will perform a running scan also over period of time.

So, i plugged it in and it gave me P0299

P0299-BOOST PRESSURE SENSOR POSITIVE DEVIATION

The unit said, Turbocharger/Supercharger underboost.

I cleared it, restarted the car and it didnt return... Odd. Went for a drive and it appears fine, no light. I did give the boost sensor a good clean , it was a bit grubby. Perhaps thats why? the PCV valve has no leaks (theres no oil around the top) BUT the turbo does sound louder than normal, more sssssshhh noise :/

If i was to look for a leaking hose, which would be the most likely? I replaced the turbo charger hose not that long ago...
