I would be wary of any CRD, or 4.7 over 250k kms as the best years have already been enjoyed by the previous owners. That doesn’t mean that a good car cannot be found but it’s likely you will have to inspect a lot of well used examples and some cars that their owners want to move on because they are money pits.
In my opinion is WGs are around 20 years old so should be viewed as enthusiast cars and not necessarily daily drivers.
You are not alone in shunning fb, there are many of us who do the same.

Yeah, that does worry me a bit. I know they are old, but I seem to have a real soft spot for them. Always liked the WG.

I'm really looking for a good cheap car, comfortable enough to keep the misses happy, torqey enough to tow a 2T van without sucking down a heap of fuel, and reasonably capable offroad in stock form. The WG ticks all those boxes, but the ever present threat of problems does exist. True for any older vehicle I guess. Happy to hear any thoughts for a different car that ticks the boxes.

I am coming off the back of being bitten by the Patrol 3.0 grenade, so am a little wary. The WH GC had it's share of problems too, so can't say I would go there again either.

Here's hoping the gods smile upon me and the right car comes up at the right time.

Well, this didn't take too long. Poor photos, looks like there is some damage in and out, but doesn't look too severe??? More than I would spend, especially with freight. I hear it would cost 2-3 grand to be sent over, plus I would need to get the RACV out to check it.

Does anyone know this car? Coming from Headland it has probably done more highway miles I'm thinking.

$10K! Wow! They sure have gone up in value.

I'd be careful of assuming that it has Quadradrive just because it is badged Overland. Sure, they had it factory, but the varilock diffs can fetch a bit of coin, and some owners have swapped them back to open diffs to fit air lockers. Check it really is varilock.

250,000km is mediocre for the 2.7 CRD. Injectors tend to last around 180k to 200k. If you pick one up a bit over 200k then odds are it has new-ish injectors fitted. Put it this way - if it still has the original and it is much over 200k it will probably be obvious.

The key is the service record. No record, no purchase. "Simples," as the meerkat says.

Oh! That tent on the roof means the roof has been overloaded.

Excellent advise Thanks for that.

I will do a search on how to confirm Varilok. Would you think the roof would have suffered due to the roof top tent?

It won't be an issue for this one anyway. He won't budge on price, so really not worth me paying to have it transported over here to Vic.

He is asking a bit much anyway. I know the CRD holds it's value better, but there is a 2002 4.7 Overland in QLD with just over 100,000 on the clock for 7 grand. Apart from a couple of minor blemishes, it looks tip top. Can't say I'm a V8 man.

I had a look at a few cars in your desired range on gumtree and I must say a few had me suspicious they had reasonable kms on the odometer but the condition of the seats and interior did not agree with the shown mileage. Also clearly the COVID tax is being applied to the prices.
