If it's the same May & Schofield immobiliser that was fitted to 97s in the UK I believe it is programmed with the VIN and tied into the PCM. In which case you'd need to source a PCM from the US without an immobiliser, which was optional over there.

Jonny Jeep, from what I can understand, the Australian delivered XJ was the same as the UK XJ, so I may have to source one from the US if that's the case.

Hi,

Although I have a 2.5l TD I can confirmed that the XJ'S in the UK have matching skim units to the PCM. If you swap another PCM in, you will have to get it programmed.

I have been through this process and had to send mine to the UK for repair... although it came back as OK and nothing to be done.

I would be interested to see where you go with this and fixing your problems because I still cant get mine going.

I also learned after several hours reading that: "junk yard" or second hand PCM's are likely to fail for the same reasons as the OG one due to age etc.

I am sure you already knew this but being new to forums and looking for others to help me, I thought I would try and give what I can.
