If they put the new hurricane motor in the ram it will be a good addition and replacement for the v8s and way better fuel economy however this weak spot with their chassis is a concern when it lists to tow 4.5 ton.
Neighbours caravan is 3.5 ton, he has spent about another $40k on a rear fibreglass canopy, decked rear out with draws , fridge etc,new ecb bullbar so i guess when you add all that up your hitting the limit!!
He wanted to add another fuel tank as well but never got to it !!
Re the gc getting the hurricane motor- would be a game changer for Jeep if the did it as it would up the tow capacity to well over 3 ton!!

Just to confirm - is RAM replacing under warranty, or at owner's cost? Definitely sounds like it wouldn't be toooo hard to make a case that it was (at least close to being) overloaded.

I think I would like to see some onroad miles on the Hurricane before I would take it seriously, the Yank Ram drivers will certainly give it a flogging but with twin turbo's I think I would give it a miss and the WL just doesn't pass muster with or without it and I doubt its tow cap would increase very much at all...
I would still like a RAM V8 or oiler I don't care, even if they can't carry more than a couple of cartons of beer.. All that truck and they only carry 200kg more than a Grand, pathetic really...

Fair enough mate - as you said, be interesting to see the reliability of these engines. So far as I know, there haven't been any issues yet in the Wagoneers, but there wouldn't be that many of them getting around, and it's still early days... Wouldn't be too worried about the TT setup being problematic in of itself, that's bread and butter for engine manufacturers now. One benefit to the inline 6 is that it can't be a hot-V configuration!
Have you gone and had an in-person look at the WL? Towing issues aside (and the fact that they've limited the proper 4WD system to top grades), they're a huge step up on the WK2. I'm still hopeful that they'll bring the Trailhawk here eventually, and hopefully with the Hurricane or 4xe at very least.

Right about a straight 6, life is easier with them but the engine set up with the whole build being an entirely new thing for me, seems to be adding to things that can go wrong and doesn't seem like a river or desert track style runner at all..................
Have had a static look at the WL, I can't see how they are better than a WK2 though, no double diff in the poverty packs or grunt engine means they are not on my watch list at all .........
In fact looking around at vehicles and this WK2 and Van of mine will have to last a long time, as won;t be able to replace either of them........ Of course there's always that Lotto win ............... then a Izuzu 450 powered Winnabago Longreach towing a Wrangler behind ........... RAM 1500 in the shed at home as the town car.
